Hearing at the European Parliament: “Tools to improve a Culture of Compliance in the European fisheries– a EFCA contribution”
The European Fisheries Control Agency is delighted to invite you to a Hearing at the European Parliament entitled “Tools to improve a Culture of Compliance in the European fisheries – a EFCA contribution”.
To achieve sustainable fisheries, a culture of compliance must exist throughout the fishing industry. Ensuring such a culture exists is one of the principle objectives of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The European Fisheries Control Agency helps the work towards this objective.
The hearing will be an opportunity to hear reflections on the current enforcement scheme and tools as well as the work of the European Fisheries Control Agency. In addition, the new opportunities and challenges for compliance that a reformed Common Fisheries Policy provides will be discussed.
Representatives from the Irish Presidency, the fishing industry, NGOs and EFCA will give their perspectives on the necessary tools to improve a Culture of Compliance in European Fisheries.
The hearing will take place from 15h30 – 17h00 on 22 April 2013 in the European Parliament (PHS - P7C050). Due to EP regulations, registrations must be received before 18 April 2013 13h00.
