The EFCA supports the Commission in the framework of tasks transferred to the EFCA under Commission Decision 2009/988/EU of 18 December 2009, and also by supporting the Commission participating in evaluation missions to third countries in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

European Union Agencies have pledged to strengthen fundamental rights protection in all areas of their work during a meeting of Heads of EU Agencies in Brussels on 20 February 2015. In recognition of the enabling nature of fundamental rights, they have signed up a joint statement, which they will abide by in their internal and external dealings.
As part of its commitment to Fundamental Rights, EFCA Executive Director adopted a Code of Conduct for all persons participating in EFCA activities. The Code entered into force on 15 November 2018. The brochure may be downloaded at this link.
